1.1 What is the GWIDS website?
GWIDS is an application that provides the capability to make GETS and WPS related information available
efficiently and effectively to government personnel and contractors involved in providing the GETS and WPS services.
1.2 What information is collected and how is it used?
1.2.1 GWIDS collects the minimal information required to identify the user, enable the Government and appropriate contractors
to communicate with the user, and enable carriers to provision the user for service.
1.2.2 When you visit GWIDS, some information such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the time and date of your
visit and content you viewed or downloaded may be collected automatically as part of the software operation of the application.
1.2.3 Session cookies (small data files saved to your device which enable better navigation through our site) are also used.
Session cookies last only as long as your current visit to GWIDS. Once you close your browser or log out of
the website, the cookies are deleted.
1.3 To whom is this data disclosed?
1.3.1 If you choose to provide your information, the information will be used to provide the services you have requested. Failure
to provide this information may result in the inability to provide the service you are requesting. Except as noted below, this
information is only shared with the Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and
authorized CISA contractors providing or supporting GETS and WPS, and only in order to provide GETS and WPS services. To enable WPS service, a
subset of the information is provided to the cellular service provider that you designate.
1.3.2 Information about organizational Points of Contact (POC) may be distributed to outside parties under limited circumstances,
including:
- When personnel within an organization are trying to identify the POC for the organization. In these cases, actions are taken
to verify that the recipient of the information is a member of the POC’s organization.
- When the POC of a regional organization or chain of organizations seeks information about participating organizations within
the region. For example, a POC for a county Emergency Management Agency may request information about other organizations within
the county that are participating in GETS and WPS, or the POC of a hospital in a hospital chain may request information about POCs
for other hospitals in the chain.
1.3.3 DHS and/or its Contractor may be compelled by applicable law and regulations to disclose this information to government or
law enforcement authorities.
1.4 How will your data be protected?
Different access levels are applied to data within GWIDS to ensure that data are visible only to
appropriate users and groups. System-level security measures follow industry best practices for security, including the principles
of "need-to-know" as well as "least privilege by default."
